About Us

The Ethics Center at Baylor University is a community of scholars and practitioners dedicated to critical and creative research and teaching about how Christian beliefs and practices relate—presently and potentially—to the broader cultural, social, economic, and political systems that we inhabit as local, national, and global citizens. Supported by the College of Arts and Sciences, the Ethics Center is committed to collaborative ethics research and literacy across campus, throughout our communities, and around the world.

We are a diverse group of scholars:

  1. United in our commitment the highest research expectations in bioethics, global ethics, AI ethics, and other ethics-related fields.
  2. United in our commitment to assisting our students cultivate lives of virtue and character.

AI Ethics
Artificial intelligence is transforming many areas of modern life, including personal relationships, social life, education, health care, the economy, politics, and war. These transformations raise profound ethical questions about the impact of AI on human flourishing in all these domains of life. The AI Ethics Group supports Christian engagement with these ethical questions through collaborative research, cross-campus initiatives, and public engagement.

Bioethics
Bioethics is an expansive field that addresses ethical issues related to life, health, and well-being, with a focus on biotechnology, clinical practice, health policy, and health equity. The Bioethics Subcommittee cultivates a vibrant center for Christian bioethics at Baylor by integrating teaching, research, and community partnerships.
